The world of communications has been forever altered by the growth of online tools. Whether we use the jargon of new media, social networking, online community, or web 2.0, it is important to not be left behind in this rapidly changing landscape.
When creating your organization's new media strategy, it is important to look at it not just through the lens of fundraising or of marketing, but of an overall communications plan.
- Should you be blogging?
- Should you be on Twitter or Facebook?
- What about video or podcasts?
- What expectations should you have?
- How much work and resources will it require?
I have been involved with online communications on a personal level since 1993, and was an early user of blogger, YouTube, and Twitter, and have seen what works, and what doesn't. Professionally, I was the Director of Online Community Development for HandsNet and have blogged extensively on nonprofits and new media.
I also have experience in video production, having directed a documentary that has played several film festivals, and created videos that have received nearly two million views on YouTube.

Rates: An hourly rate is usually preferable, but at our initial meeting we will discuss whether a single project cost would be appropriate.
Geographic Limitations: Single presentations or one-time facilitations can be arranged throughout Northern California. Longer term assignments are generally limited to Santa Clara and Santa Cruz Counties.
